Neuroads for individuals and families

Understand how your brain works, beyond labels

Neuroads offers neuroaffirming assessments for children from age 2, adolescents and adults. Each assessment builds a clear picture of how you or your child think, learn and experience the world, with practical recommendations for home, school and work.

Dr Garance Delagneau, clinical neuropsychologist, is based in Wollongong and sees people across NSW and the ACT, at home, in local venues and online.

Assessments

Which assessment fits your question?

Start from the question you want answered. If you are unsure, the intake form or a callback will help work out the right pathway, and combined assessments cost less than separate ones.

ADHD assessment

  • Ages 3+
  • $1,800

Suits: For you or your child if attention, organisation, energy or impulse regulation keep getting in the way at school, work or home.

Explores: Attention, executive functioning and everyday regulation, with care to recognise profiles that are often missed: internalised presentations, girls and women, and people who mask.

Autism assessment

  • Ages 2+
  • $1,800

Suits: For children, adolescents and adults exploring whether autism explains differences in communication, sensory experience, interests or social energy.

Explores: Your autistic profile, including masking, gender and cultural context, and demand-avoidant (PDA) profiles. A Medicare rebate is available for people under 25 referred by a paediatrician or psychiatrist.

Combined ADHD and autism assessment

  • $2,800

Suits: When both questions are open, or when the two may be overlapping or masking each other.

Explores: ADHD and autism together in one process, which avoids repeating shared components and reduces the overall cost.

Learning assessment

  • Ages 5+
  • IQ assessment + $275 per learning module

Neuropsychological assessment

  • $1,800

Suits: When you want a fuller picture than IQ alone: how memory, attention and executive functions work together day to day.

Explores: A broader cognitive profile that goes beyond IQ, to characterise strengths and support needs. It does not assess dementia or brain injury.

Trauma-informed neuropsychological assessment

  • Quote on enquiry

Suits: When trauma and neurodevelopmental differences may both be shaping how someone thinks, feels and copes.

What to expect

What the process looks like for you

Where and when

Designed around real lives

  • Interviews, questionnaires and the feedback session happen online; testing sessions happen in person.
  • Testing can take place at your home or a local venue. Travel within about an hour of Wollongong is included; further away, a small travel fee is added to the invoice.
  • Garance travels up to around three hours from Wollongong for regular outreach, and can plan one longer trip (4–5 hours away) each year.
  • Assessments are available in English or French.
  • Most people are assessed within 1–3 months of completing the intake form.

What you receive

A report you can use

  • A 10–20 page report covering background, results, formulation and recommendations, with any diagnoses stated on the first page.
  • A 50-minute online feedback session, where teachers or other professionals are welcome to join.
  • Your report on the day of the feedback session, usually 2–3 weeks after testing.
  • Evidence you can use for school support, HSC disability provisions, university or TAFE adjustments, NDIS access and Centrelink.

Neuroaffirming in practice

What a neuroaffirming assessment feels like

Paced by you

Sessions follow your energy levels and comfort, not a fixed script.

Comfort comes first

Breaks, fidgets, snacks and comfort items are encouraged throughout.

Strengths alongside needs

Reports describe strengths and areas where support helps, rather than deficits.

Somewhere familiar

Testing can happen at home, where many people feel more relaxed and day-to-day behaviour is easier to see.

Common questions

Questions people often ask before booking

More answers are on the FAQ page, and the full process is on the assessments page.

What if I don't meet the criteria for a diagnosis?

This is one of the most common worries. Every assessment ends with a detailed profile of strengths and support needs and practical recommendations, whether or not a diagnosis is made.

Can Neuroads prescribe ADHD medication?

No. Psychologists cannot prescribe medication. A GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist makes decisions about medication, and your report can support that conversation.

Do I need a referral?

No, you can refer yourself or your child. For autism assessments, people under 25 can claim a Medicare rebate when referred by a paediatrician or psychiatrist.

What about anxiety or depression?

Anxiety and depression are screened as part of the assessment. If a more in-depth assessment or ongoing support would help, Garance will recommend where to go next.

Is there anything Neuroads doesn't assess?

Neuroads does not assess acquired brain injury, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, language disorders, decision-making capacity or dementia.

How do bookings and payments work?

A $500 booking fee is due within a week of booking. Flexible payment plans are available, and the report is released once the full fee has been paid.
