Broader Brain-Behaviour Functioning for Children (aged 3+) & Adults

Neuropsychological Assessment

Neuropsychological assessment explores how different areas of the brain are functioning in everyday life. This includes thinking skills such as memory, attention, processing speed, executive functioning (planning, organisation, flexibility), language, and visuospatial skills. It focuses on understanding how these abilities work together to influence daily functioning, learning, and behaviour.

This type of assessment is not limited to neurodiversity or diagnosis. It can also help clarify broader questions about memory changes, cognitive efficiency, acquired difficulties, or unexplained changes in thinking and functioning.

Why Assessments Matter

What are the benefits of Neuropsychological Assessments

Understanding how different cognitive systems are working can help explain changes or difficulties in everyday life. It can support clearer diagnosis where relevant, guide treatment or rehabilitation planning, and provide strategies to optimise functioning in work, study, and daily routines.

It can also help identify strengths that can be used to compensate for areas of difficulty.

Neuropsychological assessment approach

How our neuropsychological assessments are different

Our approach goes beyond test scores to build a meaningful picture of how the brain is functioning in real-world contexts. We consider how cognitive skills interact with fatigue, mood, health, and environmental demands, and interpret results within the person’s broader life context.

Assessments are flexible, collaborative, and tailored to the referral question. Where appropriate, we also consider whether home-based assessment may better reflect everyday functioning and reduce testing-related stress.

Potential measures

Potential measures

Memory and attention

  • Memory measures (e.g., WMS, CVLT, CMS)
  • Attention and processing speed tasks (e.g., TEACh, DKEFs, NEPSY)

Executive functioning

  • Executive functioning measures (e.g., D-KEFS)

Language and visuospatial profile

  • Language and visuospatial tasks (e.g., WPPSI, WISC-V, WAIS-V)

This list is not exhaustive. Assessment measures are selected based on each individual's presentation, age, goals, and assessment needs.

Fees

Neuropsychological Assessment Fee

Standalone fee: $1,600

When Broader Brain-Behaviour Functioning assessments are completed alongside ADHD, Autism, cognitive (IQ), and/or learning assessments, reduced fees apply to reflect the overlap between assessment components.
